British Columbia Canada Overview Map (Click for larger Map jpg)

The Northwest is an area that encompasses almost one-fifth of the province of British Columbia (BC). It contains three of the largest river systems in BC and is home to over 60,000 people. The commercial centres are Prince Rupert, Terrace, Kitimat, Stewart, and Hazelton. The area is home to a significant number of aboriginal people of the Haisla, Tahltan, Tsimshian, Nisga'a, Gitanyow and Gitxsan Nations living in 26 aboriginal communities.

The communities in the region look forward to new and increased industrial activity, and offer an array of competitive advantages for parties looking to establish operations in the region:

  • Close proximity to a diverse fibre supply;

  • Large and available industrial sites which can accommodate the needs of investors;

  • Direct connections to multiple methods of cargo transport into North American, Asian, and global markets;

  • Ice free, deep water Port facilities up to 1 ½ shipping days closer to Asia than the Port of Vancouver

  • Professional and technical labour pools well experienced in natural resource management, and the harvesting and processing of timber;

  • Technical and university level education facilities;

  • Local municipal and tribal governments which are ready to discussing opportunities and the needs of long term investors and their partners.

The Climate of the Northwest

With a temperate coastal climate, Northwest British Columbia allows year round logging operations, ensuring security of supply while minimizing inventory costs.
